The SentenceSmart Board Game equips families to learn and enjoy grammar together. It helps children to identify and create the relationships between the parts of speeches that convey the writer's ideas. This unique board game also facilitates the learning of the most important prefixes and their derivatives. Sentence Smart makes grammar a treat that gets parents and families on their feet.
This game is a learning activity that helps students to practice creating the grammatical relationships that writers and speakers use to convey their ideas in sentences. Students can enhance their reading skills by learning how to identify and analyze the chunks of meaning embedded within these grammatical relationships as they appear in complex texts; and they can improve their writing skills by learning how to use these relationships to communicate their own complex ideas.
Steps
Pre-game
Each player picks seven cards from the hidden deck of parts of speech cards in the black bag and one white blank wild card that can be substituted for any of the parts of speech. Each player also gets four chips. Players can use these chips to purchase matching cards from the Open Card Bank. Each card in the Bank costs two chips.
The game is won when one player sheds or gets rid of all of his cards by making combinations. Please note that at the very beginning of the game anyone can win immediately by making a complete sentence with all of the cards that he or she has in his set.
