Frequently Asked Questions
What Do YOU offer? (How can YOU help MY child?)
We help students gain confidence and to achieve excellence by teaching them how to understand their classwork and homework. This helps students prepare for classroom and state exams. Your child will receive one-to-one personalized direct attention from our patient, professional tutors.
What is the process for my child's success? (how does this work?)
First, we will give your child a comprehensive diagnostic exam to reveal the areas of weakness that need immediate attention. we will share this information with you and also with your child's teachers--with your permission.
After discussing the diagnostic report with you, we will work with you to create a tutorial assistance package that is effective for your child and affordable to your family. Once we agree on a tutorial package, your child will begin his or her individualized plan for success.

When and how often will my child be attending tutoring?
Depending on the individual plan and package, students normally attend at least two days per week. Students receive an intensive hour of tutoring twice per week.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 9:00 online. Students get tutored at a scheduled time during those hours. Since each child's plan is personalized, the tutorial session begins when the student logs in. If a child misses a session, and we are notified ahead of time, that student gets to make up the session at a later time.
*Other session times are available upon request.

how long will this take? and how will I know if tutoring is actually working?
Tutoring takes time. New material and habits have to be taught. You should begin seeing improvement in grades and test scores within the first 6 weeks.
However, your child will tell you immediately if he or she is learning and gaining confidence. Students normally tell their parents within the first week how much more they are learning.

I'm still not sure if this will work? can I get a free session?
Absolutely! we want you and your child to be comfortable. We don't want you to take risks. schedule a free session, and let us give your child the help he or she needs without any obligation on your part.
What type of success have you had with students?
Our students often dramatically improve their test scores and grades within the first semester of tutoring. Several of our recent students have gotten into top colleges. Other students have been accepted into top middle and high schools. But our best proof comes from testimonials by parents just like yourself.
Here are some testimonials from parents:
"My Daughter was struggling with math and my son needed SAT Prep. The progress they made was very evident in the first few months. My daughter’s Math grades went from 70’s to high 90’s. She is now very confident with her math skills. My son’s vocabulary and writing ability soared. I really appreciated the personalized treatment they received. He has taken the SAT and did an extraordinary job. My daughter continues to excel in her Math and will be starting her SAT Prep."
Sincerely,
Ms. White
“Nicholas and family would like to thank Mr. Vieira and faculty on the tutoring of prepping Nick for the Sat exam. He was so well prepared that he increased his score by 260. Again we want to Thank You for the success.”

ScholarSkills is an online, after school tutoring service.
Who are the lead instructors, and what are their qualifications?
ScholarSkills' Lead Instructors (and departmental Chairpersons) are the gifted and talented twins: Joshua Vieira and Brian Caleb Vieira.
Joshua and Caleb graduated from high school with Regents diplomas when they were just 16. They both had been homeschooled, which led to their accelerated learning and general brilliance. Both students were reading at a 12th-grade level when they were just eleven years old.
Joshua and Caleb were accepted to several top schools and honors programs and chose to attend Marist College, which is recognized as one of the ten best schools in the Northeast and one of the top schools in the country, according to Princeton Review and U.S. News. Both students graduated with honors in four years.
After graduation, Joshua and Caleb joined the staff of ScholarSkills Learning Center, which is ranked five stars by parents and students on Google.
Joshua and Caleb were mentored by their father, Rev. Brian Vieira M.A., who graduated from Stuyvesant H.S. and attended one of the nation's most prestigious universities.
Rev. Vieira taught in N.Y.C.'s Dept. Of Education for 15 years and was named Teacher of the Year at Wingate H.S. He left the Dept. of Ed. and founded ScholarSkills Learning Center to help students get better grades in school and higher scores on critical tests so that they could gain admission to schools that offer them the best. Rev. Vieira also founded ScholarSkills Christian Academy, which was recognized as one of the top private schools in N.Y.C. Rev. Vieira is now the Executive Director of ScholarSkills for STARS, which organizes literacy programs across the state, and sponsors the Scripps National Spelling Bee and the N.Y.C. Spelling Bee.
After personally mentoring Joshua and Caleb, Rev. Vieira passed the torch of leadership to them in 2020. Since they have been running ScholarSkills as an Online Tutoring Company, its Five-Star reviews and student success rates have grown by over 100 percent. Parents continue to praise them for outstanding results.
Brian Caleb is the Chairman of our English Department and tutors math to students from grades 1 to 8. Joshua is the Chairman of our Maths Department. Both students co-authored ScholarSkills Curriculum for Excellence in Reading, Writing, and Math.
Because of his extraordinary talent in Math, Joshua continues to help students achieve exceptional grades in school and top scores on standardized tests such as the Regents, S.A.T., and A.C.T.
Because of his extraordinary expertise in English Language Arts, Brian Caleb continues to create outstanding reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary curriculums. He also devotes most of his time to tutoring students who need help with reading skills.

The Talented Twins are the Chairpersons and Lead Teachers
of ScholarSkills Online Tutoring Center
Five stars are not enough to rate Scholarskills because this program is 10 out of 10. Not only does it fill in the gaps of the educational system that our children are apart of, but it also gives them the tools to think critically and analytically when confronted with new/high-quality material. Since my daughter started Scholarskills, immediately her attitude towards learning has changed. Prior to this program, she had a very nonchalant attitude towards learning and when learning new material, would often back down. However, she has become audacious in learning and is up for any challenge because she now has the tools to thoroughly think things through. Being a part of this program as a parent is also a pleasant experience as I get to learn new teaching techniques, through observation, that I can implement at home. Pastor Vieira and his staff (Joshua and Caleb) are absolutely exceptional in their teaching methodology and are simply good/caring people. They are also highly educated and knowledgeable about the educational needs of your child as each child receives learning instruction and materials based on their needs (other programs give the same work in the same manner to every child despite the child's needs...trust me because this is coming from a parent who placed her child in a number of "big-name" tutoring centers.) This is an awesome program...if your child needs help with their academics or as in my case, wants your child to have that "edge," Scholarskills is the place!
